Jennifer McClain

0xf8 Studios features the video services and talent of Jennifer McClain.

Jennifer founded the [: angeldustrial :] dance performance group in 2000. Needing a new artistic outlet seven years after its inception, she originally began producing and editing video with the goal of incorporating it into the [: angeldustrial :] stage performances. As a lifelong technophile and longtime choreographer, producing and editing video allowed her to combine both obsessions. The choreography of movement within frames and the technology behind video manipulation satisfies the geek in her as well as the dancer.

In 2007, Jennifer teamed up with Clint M. Sand, visual artist and the experimental musician behind synnack, to collaborate on creating installation-like environments using Cycling 74's Max/MSP/Jitter to be used for the synnack live shows. This early work focuses on abstract narrative, an evolving cinematography that exposes and examines the boundary between eye-candy and film. The themes are based on classical mythological themes and are combined with chance methodologies to generate custom, narrative footage, that is arranged and effected on the fly as the performance progresses. No two performances are the same.

"Ants in the Water" and "Her Room", available here for preview, are examples of this footage, to be released along with other full-length music videos on DVD in 2010.

Outside of the synnack collaboration, Jennifer has created videos for numerous bands and VJed across the globe. "Leave Her To Heaven" and "Mr. Milquetoast", also available here, are examples of this work.
